TOKYO -- (Marketwire) -- 11/17/09 -- Rorke Data Inc., a data storage-centric, end-to-end solutions provider that is a wholly owned subsidiary of Bell Microproducts (OTCBB: BELM), announced that it has signed an exclusive agreement with Tokyo based ASK Corporation to distribute its new Galaxy® Aurora 8 Gbit Fibre Channel and InfiniBand RAID storage solutions. The agreement specifically targets the storage bandwidth-intensive film, broadcast and video post production markets, for which ASK Corporation is a respected, industry leading distribution company. With an MSRP starting at less than 70 cents (USD) per gigabyte of storage, the Galaxy Aurora RAID family delivers an unprecedented cost per GB/ performance ratio of over 2300 MB per second. This performance capability makes the Galaxy Aurora the most cost-effective, high-performance solution available today.
"Rorke Data is a well known provider of high-performance storage systems to the post production industry," said Yoshihiro Maeda, vice president of sales for ASK Corporation. "We are very pleased to enter into a mutually beneficial agreement with Rorke Data to sell and market their award winning Galaxy RAID product line in Japan. The Aurora RAID platform is ideally suited for our customers in the film, broadcast and HD video markets, and we look forward to demonstrating this product in our booth at the 2009 Inter BEE tradeshow."
"Rorke Data is excited to partner with the premier distribution company of data storage solutions for the post production industry in Japan," noted Bob Herzan, vice president of sales for Rorke Data. "Japan is well known as the world leader when it comes to extremely high resolution media formats, data-intensive post production workflows and cutting edge display technologies; and we are proud that ASK Corporation views Rorke's Aurora RAID product line as a vital component for their customer's success."
"With Aurora, Rorke Data is setting a new standard in price and performance for 8 Gbit fibre channel storage solutions," said Joe Rorke, vice president of marketing for Rorke Data. "Galaxy Aurora will enable wider adoption of 8 Gbit network topologies by making over SAN solutions cost-effective and simple to deploy. "Galaxy Aurora has so much storage bandwidth that up to 8 HD editors can simultaneously share or access the RAID system with out needing a costly 8 Gbit fibre channel switch. This reduces both capital equipment costs and network complexity."
